MOHRE enquiry services: check work permit, contract and application status

MOHRE enquiry services are the free online checks run by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) for private-sector employees and employers on the UAE mainland. Using the public portal at inquiry.mohre.gov.ae, you can check an application’s status, see your electronic work permit, confirm a job offer or approved contract, and look up a company’s details.

You do not need to sign in for most checks. You just need the right reference number, usually a transaction number, a person code or a labour card (work permit) number.

Exact input fields vary by service: the portal asks for the reference printed on your receipt, permit or contract. The portal also covers employer-side checks, such as E-Quota Status, Bank Guarantee details and Pre-Approval for Work Permit. PRO staff use these more than employees do.

How to check your MOHRE application status

1. Open MOHRE’s Inquiry Service portal.
2. Choose Application Status, or Transaction Status in Immigration if MOHRE has already approved it and passed it on to immigration.
3. Enter the transaction number from your receipt or SMS. For the immigration check, add your person code and date of birth.
4. Submit to see the current stage.

Your transaction number is on the receipt from the Tasheel or Business Service Centre, or from whoever submitted the application. Your person code (personal number) is the MOHRE number printed on your work permit and contract.

How to check your work permit (labour card) online

1. Open the Inquiry Service portal and choose Electronic Work Permit Information.
2. Enter your work permit number or person code.
3. Review the permit type, employer, job title and expiry date.
4. Need a copy? Use Print Electronic Work Permit.

How to check your job offer and employment contract

Before you sign anything, confirm the offer is registered with MOHRE:

• Enquiry for Job Offer shows whether your offer letter has been submitted.
• View Approved Contract shows the final contract MOHRE approved: salary, basic pay, job title and contract dates.

How to file a labour complaint with MOHRE

If your employer has not paid your salary, gratuity or other dues, you can register a complaint through the MOHRE app, the website or the call centre on 80084.

1. Choose Register Labour Complaint (private-sector employees).
2. Enter your passport number, name, date of birth, nationality and Emirates ID number.
3. Confirm with the OTP sent by SMS or email.
4. A MOHRE officer contacts you and your employer and tries to reach an amicable settlement. A meeting may be scheduled.

What happens next:

• Timeline: MOHRE examines complaints and tries to resolve them within 14 days of the application.
• Claims up to AED 50,000: MOHRE can decide these itself if there is no settlement.
• Larger claims, or no settlement: MOHRE refers the dispute to the labour court with both parties’ positions.
• Court fees: workers are exempt from judicial fees on claims under AED 100,000.
• Time limit: under the Labour Law, a claim is not heard if more than one year has passed since the violation.
