Accountant calculating an employee's end-of-service gratuity on a laptop in a Dubai office

Enter your basic monthly salary, your first day of work and your last working day to estimate the end-of-service gratuity you are owed under the UAE Labour Law. The result shows the daily wage, the amount for the first five years, the amount for any later years and whether the legal cap applies.

An estimate for private-sector employees under the UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021). DIFC and ADGM employees, government staff and some contracts follow different rules. Deductions the employer is legally owed may reduce the amount. For a binding figure, check with your employer or MOHRE.

How this calculator works

It follows Article 51 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021:

  • Eligibility: at least one year of continuous service.
  • Years 1–5: 21 days’ basic wage for each year.
  • Year 6 onwards: 30 days’ basic wage for each year.
  • Daily wage: basic monthly salary ÷ 30.
  • Part years: paid pro rata once you pass one year.
  • Cap: no more than two years’ basic wage (24 months).
  • Unpaid absence: days of unpaid leave are taken off your service.

For the full rules, including resignation, deductions and what happens if your employer pays late, read our guide on how to calculate gratuity in the UAE. Leaving a job? See what else you are owed in our termination benefits and resignation and notice period guides.

Example: 7 years on AED 10,000 basic

  • Daily wage: AED 10,000 ÷ 30 = AED 333.33
  • First 5 years: 5 × 21 × 333.33 = AED 35,000
  • Next 2 years: 2 × 30 × 333.33 = AED 20,000
  • Gratuity: AED 55,000, well below the cap of AED 240,000

Who this calculator is for

It is for private-sector employees on full-time contracts on the UAE mainland and in free zones that follow the federal Labour Law. It does not cover:

  • DIFC employees (DEWS savings scheme)
  • ADGM employees (ADGM Employment Regulations)
  • UAE and GCC nationals under pension laws
  • Government staff
  • Employees whose employer has joined the voluntary end-of-service savings scheme

If your gratuity is not paid

Your employer must pay within 14 days of your contract ending (Article 53). If it doesn’t, file a complaint with MOHRE on 80084 or through the MOHRE app. See our MOHRE enquiry services guide. Lost your job involuntarily? Check whether you can also claim ILOE unemployment insurance.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the MOHRE gratuity calculator?

It uses the same legal formula as Article 51 of the Labour Law, the rules MOHRE applies. For a binding figure on a disputed case, confirm with MOHRE or your employer’s final settlement.

Does the calculator include allowances?

No. Gratuity is calculated on your basic salary only, so enter the basic figure from your contract, not your total package.

What if I worked less than a year?

The calculator shows AED 0, because the Labour Law only grants gratuity after one year of continuous service.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you enter is sent to us or stored.
